Web Communications’ primary responsibility is to develop and maintain the university’s flagship site, www.vt.edu. The unit shares responsibility for websites affiliated with News and Information, maintains the University Relations website, and maintains, either in part or in whole, several other top-level university websites, including those of the president and board of visitors. Web Communications partners with Information Technology to provide university offices with the latest technology and tools to develop and maintain websites that reflect the university’s Web identity standards and best practices for usability and content presentation.
Ensemble CMS is the Web content management system for Virginia Tech. It allows website contributors to update their content without worrying about the technical details of creating, editing, and maintaining websites.
This enterprise system is administered jointly by University Relations, sponsor of the CMS project, and Information Technology.
