Virginia Tech plays host to 500 middle and high school students from seven states in three days for the annual Honor Band. Nominated by their music teachers, the students audition on Friday and are placed with one of five bands depending on their skill level. The next day, students attend one-hour "master" classes and practice four-five selections of new music for their Sunday performance.
