"This edge I have to jump" is a multi-screen video installation on the illusory and idiosyncratic nature of the creative process. The installation is "a kinetic conversation, an immersive meditation, and an investigation into the compulsion to make, invent, and perform what otherwise would be intangible," creator Joan Grossman says. The piece surrounds viewers with image, sound, and narrative fragments of conversations with artists, scientists, and educators. The installation was commissioned by the Institute for Creativity, Arts, and Technology for the opening of the Moss Arts Center's Cube.
Grossman, a media artist who works with experimental non-fiction and documentary film, is a visiting faculty member in the School of Performing Arts.
